Vietnam visa requirement for Russian
I am Russian and I heard that Russian citizens no to apply visa for Vietnam, is it correctly ?
According to Decision No. 3207/2008/QD-BNG approved and signed on 10 December 2008 by the head of Vietnam Foreign Affairs Ministry, citizens of the Russian Federation bearingordinary passports are exempt from visa when entering and exiting Vietnam regardless of their entry purposes within 15 days from the date of entry.
How can I apply for Vietnam visa in Russia
If you are Russian you can go straight to Vietnam without visa and can stay up to 15 days.
If you are travelers who have been already in Russian and want go Vietnam for a visit, depending on your nationality you can go straight away or you also have to apply for a visa. Please check the table below for your situations:
- 30 days visa free for citizens of Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, Laos
- 21 days visa free for citizens of Philippines
- 15 days visa free for citizens of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, South Korea, Japan, Brunei, Myanmar
If you are Russian or people in the list but want to stay in Vietnam longer than that time then you will apply for Vietnam visas.

How to apply for Vietnam visa?
You can apply for Vietnam visa online or you can also go to Vietnam embassy in Russia which addresses are provided at the end of the article.
For applying online, first you need to fill in the online application form, pay for a service fee. Next, you prepare for two passport photos and then wait until you receive an approval letter from our government (which normally takes two working days). Now you can fly to Vietnam.
What should be careful with booking ticket?
First, Vietnam electronic visa only enable for air travel therefore you should not go on other transportations than airlines.
Second, you should choose an international airport to arrive which has been installed the visa-on-arrival systems: Da Nang, Cam Ranh, Noi Bai or Ho Chi Minh airport.
Third, you should have some USA dollars to pay for the stamp fee at the airport.
What about getting visas from Vietnam embassy in Russia, are there any disadvantages?
The traditional way is applying for visa with the embassy but nowadays people prefer to use the advantages of the internet. Applying for an online visa could save people times, funds and frustrations.
Avoiding travelling all the long way to the embassy office in the traffic congestion or waiting in the long line are probably the most beneficial of the online visa application.
